McOptom BSc Hons
Born and bred in Switzerland, Agnes qualified there as an optician in 1997.
She then spent the next 5 years in Jordan working on a project of the Christian Blind mission. Working alongside an Optometrist, Agnes was inspired to pursue an Optometry career in the UK. Since qualifying in 2009 Agnes has worked in independent opticians as well as in hospital eye departments.
Agnes has always loved working with children and was introduced to Behavioural Optometry in 2010 when working for Keith Holland Opticians in Cheltenham. Due to family commitments, it took her 10 years from my first being exposed to Behavioural Optometry to actually practicing it.
Agnes is registered with the General Optical Council and is also a Member of the British Association of Behavioural Optometrists.
Away from Optometry, Agnes is a wife, mum and step-mum, keen vegetable gardener, and cyclist.

Sanjay was born in India, and came to Britain as a child in 1963 and was brought up in Kent .
He studied Optometry at Aston University in Birmingham , and soon after qualifying became a College of Optometrist student Trainer and Supervisor. He has trained in excess of 30 young Opticians over the years. He has held senior hands- on roles in several well known Optical providers including Domicillary ( individual patient home visits and care homes , which he still does and loves ), Industrial and vocational eye examining in the workplace, and testing inmates in prisons.
He is married to an Hospital Optician, and Contact lens specialist , They have 2 grown up children , dogs , tortoises and fish . His interests outside work include travel, quizzes and helping his friends and colleagues with work and non- work related issues.
Tony has been a Qualified Dispensing Optician for over 30 years. Having worked in senior roles for the ‘big boys’ before opening The Vision Centre, he has a wealth of experience in pretty much every Optical environment. Prior to finding his true vocation, Tony was an engineer and also a keen sportsman so unsurprisingly, Sports vison and Industrial eyewear solutions are of particular interest to him. He also has a particular fondness of bad jokes – so, if you ask him for a joke don’t say we didn’t warn you!
Tom is a highly experienced and knowledgeable dispensing expert. He prides himself on delivering the very best in patient care by taking the time required to fully understand your visual challenges and offering the most suitable products for your individual needs. Outside of work, Tom is a true family man and loves spending quality time with his young son Harrison.
Cheryl is the person who dots the I’s and crosses those T’s to make sure that we all get what we have ordered, when we need it. She also processes all those lovely forms that the NHS ask us to generate and she plays the bills as well. Cheryl is pretty much the luckiest girl in Gloucester because when she isn’t working with Tony she gets to live with him as well, as they are husband and wife (bet you can’t guess who wrote this profile??)
If you find it difficult getting to us, don’t worry we can come to you! Glen heads up our home visiting team. Equipped with all our specialist home visit equipment, a fantastic range of frames and of course our specialist ‘domiciliary’ Optician, Glen will cheerily bring a fantastic optical experience to your home (or place of work, or just about anywhere for that matter) And, when your specs are ready he’ll even deliver those for you too. When Glen isn’t being an Optician on wheels, you will probably find him playing his large double bass on a stage somewhere in Gloucestershire. Glen is a member of popular local band ‘Solid Gone’.
As well as being a qualified Dispensing Optician, Becky is our frame styling guru. Is your face is round, oval, triangular or any other shape? Do you wear warm or cool colours? What colours compliment your hair style and shade? Don’t worry if you don’t know, because Becky does! Becky loves to spend time with you helping you to choose that perfect look.
One of the newest members of the team, Jack brings an eagerness to help our patients. Despite his young years, Jack is already very experienced in the world of optics. He will likely be one of the first people to meet you at reception, ready and willing to assist your needs.
Alison joined us after working for one of the large optical providers. She first started working in optics in 2000 so has many years of experience.
Alison’s family own a shop that sells Japanese anime merchandise which they are all very passionate about. Her perfect way to relax is curled up with a good book and one of her adorable cats.
After leaving school, Nigel spent over 30 years in the insurance industry as a senior motor fleet underwriter then as Business Development Manager, before moving into the Automotive sector as a Business Development Manager for the UK’s biggest motor factor. Nigel then left to care for his terminally ill father before joining us at The Vision Centre. Nigel manages our domiciliary bookings for care homes and private patients.
Outside of work, Nigel is a keen reader and golfer and enjoys listening to contemporary country music and attending gigs all over the UK.
